Mixed media mini skirt
As we move into 2025, a pivotal year in the global fight against climate change, PH5 channels the urgency of environmental activism into its Spring/Summer collection. This season is a call to action, inspired by the underrepresented and overlooked—both in nature and in the world of fashion.
The collection's central theme, "Save the Ugly Animals," draws attention to species often neglected in conservation efforts, such as the Lake Titicaca frog, affectionately known as the “scrotum frog.” This unique amphibian, native to the high-altitude waters of Lake Titicaca, faces threats from climate change, alongside the indigenous Uro tribe whose floating reed islands on the lake are also at risk. The plight of these frogs and the communities they coexist with serves as a reminder of the delicate balance we must strive to protect.
In this collection, the Lake Titicaca frog becomes a playful yet powerful symbol of the broader environmental message. Bold graphics of the frog are emblazoned across shirts, while serene, flowing dresses capture the fluidity of their endangered habitat. The collection contrasts these soft, languid silhouettes with structured, signature PH5 pieces, embodying the tension between fragility and resilience in nature.
The spirit of activism is woven throughout the collection, with designs that merge utility and artistry. Trompe l’oeil utility artworks transform everyday items into symbols of protest—flower cuttings and tools peek out of faux pockets, evoking a sense of preparedness and action. Mixed media pieces incorporate textured, feathery cotton yarns to mimic the natural elements of grass and moss, further grounding the collection in the earth that sustains us.
