FAQ
How does PH5 UV reactive technology work?
PH5 uses yarns coated in photochromic dye that respond to UV exposure. When sunlight hits the fabric, the color shifts almost instantly from beige to fuschia, then gradually fades back when you return indoors. This makes each piece interactive and visually unique. You get the same comfort and fit PH5 is known for, with the added visual effect.
Will the color-changing effect fade over time?
With proper care, the UV reactive effect is designed to last. Like all specialty fabrics, longevity depends on how the garment is maintained: gentle cold water washing, avoiding bleach, harsh detergents and avoiding excessive sun exposure will help preserve its performance. Pieces can become “sunburnt” if left in the sun for too long, simply storing them in a cupboard is enough to protect them.
Does PH5 UV reactive clothing work in all sunlight conditions?
The effect is strongest in direct sunlight with higher UV levels. On cloudy days or in shaded areas, the color change may be more subtle, but still visible. It’s a great way to be reminded to put on sunscreen 😎
Is PH5 UV reactive clothing sustainable?
We prioritize thoughtful production and innovative knitting techniques that reduce waste. All of our pieces are made with high quality, long-lasting materials to encourage fewer, better purchases. However due to the technical requirements our UV reactive pieces are made with viscose yarn which is not recycled or ecovero so we do not consider them sustainable.
Where do people wear UV reactive pieces?
PH5 UV reactive styles are ideal for travellers, event-goers, and anyone who enjoys playful, fashion-forward design. Customers often choose PH5 UV reactive designs for memorable moments like gender reveals, engagement parties, birthdays, and outdoor celebrations. The color-changing effect adds a fun, surprising element that photographs beautifully. If you want clothing that stands out both in person and in photos, PH5 UV reactive is a
standout choice.
